Glock Multi Tool - For years, the firearms market has been excluded from innovation in the multi-tool market. Leatherman and other companies have created a variety of consolidation packages that can be customized for gun owners. They are not ideal because they lack many of the tools that shooters need or field work with their guns.
This has changed rapidly in the last five years. Leatherman, mentioned above, released their own CPM tools, while smaller companies like REAL-AVID worked to fill the gap (which I've reviewed before) in the AR handgun lineup.15 and AK. But no one really paid attention to the pistol… until now.

The GTX is a complete retail package that I have to say is very attractive. The plastic front panel showcases the tool and its elegant design. Opened, 2 items inside, GTX tool and matching nylon pouch. The bag itself is tooled and non-releasable, but I was disappointed that it was only compatible with belt loops. There are no rules regarding MOLLE attachments.
The tool itself is a compact package when assembled. Along with the packaging, the minimalist theme comes with a few ruffles or other decorations. One side of the handle is a G10 plate and the other is a file and knife holder, in anodized steel or aluminum with laser engraved logos.
Those looking for a ton of tools should look elsewhere. Opening the tool reveals a standard set of pliers with built-in wire cutters that pop out nicely with good force. The G10's control panel grip includes two tools: a punch tool and a flathead screwdriver, as well as a stamped Glock magazine release tool. The metal surface holds two more items - a filing tool and a semi-serrated knife.
As mentioned before, gear-do's focus on the amount of stuff seems elsewhere, but the clear purpose makes the GTX shine. It simply has everything you need for field work with a Glock pistol. Using that and pairing it with the Emdom-MM KitMat to track the parts, I was able to complete the entire rifle down to its components and assemble it with no problems. What topic.

All the other tools (knife, file, and flat bit) don't seem to work for specialty tools. Don't get me wrong, they are useful, but having a bit of extra GTX puts you in an almost multi-tool that has a lot, but not everything, that you would expect. With more room in the handle to accommodate more tools, these tools appear to be included rather than dedicated to other components.
The pliers support spring mounting and dismounting surprisingly well. Because some companies have a large compression gap, both sides of the GTX meet without issue and can handle small components without issue. The punch tool can really punch through anything, but one time it folded into me when I hit a corner (it didn't officially lock in place, it was just tight).
Where the GTX shines is in magazine disassembly. The small "Dingus" (proprietary design actually) on the back works like a bottle opener, but can rip a Glock magazine off in seconds compared to a large pair of pliers to compress the pins. the magazine side removes the motherboard. tabs you want to delete. None of the other field solutions I've tried (including the Lone Wolf tool) work intuitively and prevent parts from flying.
Pricing is set at $54.95 retail (direct through AD), and for serious shooters that's pennies on their ammo or even firearms budget. A GTX rifle course with a small spare kit will almost guarantee that a person will not need to "borrow" the instructor's gun and will be able to complete the course using their own strength and equipment.

Assuming one is a builder who likes to carry a minimal amount of gear, the GTX is a great choice. To disassemble the parts of the gun, you only need three tools: pliers, punch, magazine. From this group, the Glock magazine base extractor stands out for its efficiency and simplicity, while the rest are commodity parts that are very convenient to have in one package.
What I mean is this: a great tool specifically for a Glock pistol. The log tool itself is almost worth it because it cuts down on time and frustration. Other tools are sold and found in most of the competition, but the GTX makes up for the lack of tools by doing what it does well.
